India's Mars Mission - Debate

Good Blog on Indian Space Mission, Poverty and Closet Racism - by Balaji Viswanathan

Reading This Blog Made Me Think :-

In a debate moderated by TIMES NOW's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami,
(Debate: Fireworks after launch - 1 / Debate: Fireworks after launch - 2 ) I Wish Arnab Goswami (the so-called moderator who is really a highly opinionated participant),  and panellists Satinath Sarangi, Activist and Dr Bejon Misra, Consumer Expert had read this. The only sensible voice was G Balachandran, Consulting Fellow, IDSA; The other two panellists ( Dr K Santhanam, Former Scientist, DRDO; and Chetan Bhagat, Author; ) are supported the sensible view but rather incoherently and weakly.

But, my take on this :-

The point none of them made is :- 16,35,577 Crores is - CONSOLIDATED FUND OF INDIA - REVENUE ACCOUNT - DISBURSEMENTS for 2013-14. Out of which Other Scientific Research is 580.50 Crores , that's 0.035 %.. India has reportedly spend more than Rs 450 crore, probably over a period of 2-3 years on the mission...So, the point is there is all around poverty, rotting of food grains in Govt.'s godowns , starvation, potholed roads, lack of electricity, lack of potable water, lack of educational facilities, lack of sanitation/toilets etc. due NOT to lack of funds, but happening due to corruption and inefficiency. If ISRO efficiently uses the fund allotted to it and achieves its objective, at least the process of efficient project management by them should be appreciated and studied and learned.
